Attorney in Key West, FloridaCivil Disputes • Divorce • Probate Matters When you are involved in a divorce or other civil dispute, you have the option of using litigation to get the result you want. Litigation, however, can be extremely expensive and time-consuming. In addition, because your fate depends on the determinations of a judge or jury, you may win, but still not get what you want or need. There are alternative forms of dispute resolution, such as mediation, that put you and the other party in the driver's seat and give you control over the outcome. At my law office of Bonnie J. Helms, in Key West, I focus on mediation as a means of resolving legal disputes more cost-effectively and in less time than through protracted litigation. I also work with executors and administrators in probate administration matters, including will contests and other probate disputes. Contact me to learn more about mediation. Mediation Mediation is an alternative form of dispute resolution where the parties work with an unbiased third party who helps the parties identify and implement mutually beneficial solutions to their legal problems. The mediator does not take testimony from witnesses, does not listen to legal arguments, and does not issue a ruling in favor of one of the parties. The mediator's responsibility is to get the parties to work with each other to resolve the issues. I am a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator. I mediate all forms of civil disputes, from family law matters to real estate issues and will contests. To learn more about the scope of my practice, see my mediation page. Probate Administration If you have been named executor, administrator or personal representative of the estate of a loved one, I will work with you to successfully navigate the probate process and settle the estate. I will file all required documents and represent the estate in any hearings or proceedings, helping you ensure that assets are distributed in accordance with the deceased's wishes, that the final debts of the estate are paid, and that all tax obligations are satisfied. If you want an experienced lawyer to help you mediate a civil dispute or settle the estate of a loved one, contact my office to schedule a confidential consultation. Bonnie J.
